01/25/2009 Update - Todays Update & New Information: RevGenetics Products: At this time RevGenetics will provide you with 1000mg, 500mg and 250mg capsules so you can decide if you would like to use the 1000 bottle dosage described in 60 minutes and the Barbara Walters Show, or if you would like to take less on a daily basis to try Resveratrol as part of your nutritional regimen. We remind you that we test every batch for purity and safety , and are FDA registered to be able to provide you some of the best products on the market. How to choose? Click here and see why we have so many different products . Below are the two David Sinclair interviews in their entirety. In them he states 1000 bottles of red wine a day. The fact that these two interviews took place almost 10 months apart shows that Dr. Sinclair has not wavered regarding the dosage he and his team feel are good for the benefits in humans. 01/25/2009 On March 24th, 2009. Dr, Oz appeared on Oprah with Trans-Resveratrol Capsules. In this interview Dr Oz says he feels safe taking these capsules that lots of different people make, even though they are not FDA approved. Dr.Oz specifically states that many resveratrol capsules from many companies are made like the generic resveratrol capsules he was showing. He showed examples of what is available, and these were dark capsules. He also told Oprah that he feels safe taking resveratrol capsules, even though they are not FDA approved for longevity as the human studies would simply take to long, while existing studies show convincing evidence that resveratrol is safe. In the interview Dr Oz mentioned that many different companies make generic resveratrol capsules like the samples he was showing. We believe that the capsules he was showing appear to be of a 50% purity, as they appear dark in color. At this time only 3-4 companies use 99% high purity resveratrol, and the capsules for high purity 99% resveratrol typically appear almost white in color. Our company is one of the few that use 99% high purity trans-resveratrol. Although generic resveratrol capsules were presented on Oprah, please consider looking for high purity white powder capsules whether you purchase them from us or another company. Typical 99% pure resveratrol capsules are almost white, simply because high purity resveratrol is white. 01/25/2009On January 25th, 2009. 60 Minutes did a new interview with Dr. Sinclair. In this new interview since Barbara Walters, we wondered if he had changed the amount of resveratrol that he considered useful. In this interview he again states that a typical person would need to drink 1000 bottles of red wine a day to get the resveratrol needed. Please see video and then continue below to the interview by Barbara Walters made in 2008 and the estimated amount of resveratrol that maybe found in 1000 bottles of wine: We have found the 60 Minutes interview on CBS video*. We present it in it's entirety with the help of free embedded services from CBS.12 /30/2008 Dr. Joseph Maroon, Heindl Scholar in Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh and noted hea lth and sports medicine expert. He is also the 69-year-old team neurosurgeon for the Pittsburgh Steelers. In his book available called "The Longevity Factor" which you can get by clicking this Amazon link , you can review the dosage that he is safely taking everyday in combination with a specialized diet for longevity gene activation. In his book he mentions that the resveratrol dose of 250mg - 500mg is safe for healthy adults, while those over 45 may consider something closer to 500mg. Athletes that may want to take advantage of endurance and mitochondrial benefits may cons ider taking dosages over 500mg. Although the dosage information is interesting, we recommend buying his book for the vast information regarding the most recent science that has lead to the discovery of resveratrol and other similar substances that affect longevity. This book is not about resveratrol alone, it goes beyond this one molecule and starts to address other important longevity factors. 04/01/2008 On April 1st, 2008. Barbara Walters did an interview with Dr. Sinclair asking him directly how much wine she would need to take in regards to the resveratrol longevity effects. Dr. Sinclair stated that she would need to drink about 1000 bottles of red wine a day. Not 10 bottles, or 10 glasses of wine, but simply 1,000 bottles of wine a day. This is about 6,000 glasses of wine, that Barbara Walters would need to drink each day. 6000 glasses of wine a day is simply impossible for any human to take. We have found the Barbara Walters interview on Google video. We present it in it's entirety with the help of Google's services. Calculating the average amount of Resveratrol that a bottle of red wine holds, Dr. Sinclair's estimate comes out to between 2000mg - 7000mg of Resveratrol a day for Barbara Walters. On August 14th, 2008 Dr. Sinclair mentioned a product that he says contains 100 glasses of wine yet only has 100mg of trans-resveratrol per serving. This means that we can deduce that Dr. Sinclair believes that 1mg of trans-resveratrol roughly equals 1 glass of wine. While 6 glasses of wine are typically found in 1 bottle of wine. On October 5th, 2008 David Sinclair was interviewed by 60 Minutes. The image below is of a new resveratrol product that David Sinclair has not released yet. He shows a capsule that states "RES 250mg" on it. We are not 100% sure, but strongly believe this new product contains 250mg of Resveratrol. The dose on this capsule compared to that of the August 14th product may indicate that his team prefers a dosage above 100mg, and closer to that of the 1000 bottles of wine he mentioned in the interview with Barbara Walters. Until human tests are completed, we believe that most folks can start with 300mg to 500mg daily. Has there been any Resveratrol Human dose stud ies? Yes, and we believe 100mg is fine for mice, but it is simply too low for humans: About 70% of the resveratrol dose given orally as a pill is absorbed; nevertheless, oral bioavailability of resveratrol is low because it is rapidly metabolized in intestines and liver into conjugated forms: glucuronate and sulfonate.[1] Only trace amounts (below 5 ng/mL) of unchanged resveratrol could be detected in the blood after 25 mg oral dose.[1] Even when a very large dose of regular resveratrol (2.5 and 5 g) was given as uncoated pill, the concentration of resveratrol in blood was only 2.4umol/L.[2] [1]. What about the stability of Resveratrol? Resveratrol has been found to be stable. The trans- form can undergo isomerisation to the cis- form when exposed to ultraviolet irradiation.[3] Trans-resveratrol in the powder form was found to be stable under "accelerated stability" conditions of 75% humidity and 40 degrees C in the presence of air.[4] Resveratrol content also stayed stable in the skins of grapes and pomace taken after fermentation and stored for a long period.[5] [3]. At this time RevGenetics will provide you with 1000mg, 500mg and 300mg capsules so you can decide if you would like to use the dosage described in the Barbara Walters Show, or if you would like to take less on a daily basis to try Resveratrol as part of your nutritional regimen. We mention some here: Several Clinical Trials are currently underway for oral resveratrol in humans at dosages from 2.5 grams to 7.5 grams a day, including National Cancer Institute sponsored studies at the University of Michigan, USA, and the University of Lericester, in the UK, and some private corporations looking to produce similar drugs. David Sinclair of the Harvard Medical School used it on non-human subjects in 2006. The dosage he used on the non-human subjects of his study, is equivalent to about 500mg for each 50lbs of a person's weight. Although this target was optimum in the Harvard study, we believe folks can start by taking less on a daily basis, as studies haven't concluded what the correct human dosage would be. In an update in June of 2007, David Sinclair finished phase "Ia" safety tests using a Resveratrol formulation of 2500mg and 5000mg on humans, and is further testing Resveratrol for specific positive results on various diseases. We provide the following information to see if you would like to follow other people's daily regimen, or add the other items that other people are promoting. We have provided links to low cost additions to consider for your resveratrol regimen:Dr. Sinclair , Harvard Ph. D. In August 14th, he promotes a new multi-level marketing supplement tonic, that is not based on resveratrol research but on "Advanced Glycosylation End Products Formation". This is actually stated in small print in the product video. On October 5th on 60 Minutes, David shows a capsule which he is currently developing. We are not 100% sure, but it appears to show that it may contain 250mg of resveratrol per capsule . We believe the new capsule is based on his resveratrol research : The resveratrol in the multi-level marketing product that Dr. Sinclair had spoken about in August, has 100 mg per serving plus other items. This item is mentioned to have the equivalent of 100 glasses of wine per serving. The main focus of this new product is not resveratrol but anti-oxident findings that are found in elderberry, carrots, and muscadine that work well with any resveratrol supplement to decrease the advanced glycosylation end products formation which are issues unrelated to the Dr. Sinclair's major resveratrol discoveries and benefits. A description of advanced glycosylation end products formation is found here : Below we provide sources that you can add to your resveratrol regimen regarding "Advanced Glycosylation End Products Formation", to add this protection as well, at a very low cost: We believe you can buy the high quality and proven resveratrol from us at a great price, and then add the latest nutritional and dietary supplements to your daily regimen at much lower cost, to help slow AGE protein formation without the high price . The advantage to this, is that if you are allergic to any of the additional 'supplements', you can simply stop taking item causing the issue, while continuing to get the benefits from resveratrol and the rest of the supplements that you have added to your regimen. He has since quit his position for this multi-level marketing supplement company, because of the issues with their marketing of this tonic product and has returned to his research. Vincent E. Giuliano , Harvard Ph. D. Has written an informative article entitled "Anti-Aging Firewalls ", where he details some of the major theories of aging and suggests practical. In his personal daily regimen he takes about 650mg a day of Trans-resveratrol, along with a long list of other beneficial supplements. His Top 10 supplements are found here , and he ranks Resveratrol as number 1 on his list. Recently he has told us that he has also added Astral Fruit to his regimen because of the science behind telomerase. We are not associated with Vincent E. Giuliano, but provide the information links for your consideration. Are there any cautions I should be aware of? In studies, resveratrol is suggested to be a weak inhibitor of the P450 3A4 liver metabolism system, which is of unknown significance for humans. Taking large amounts of resveratrol may increase blood levels of drugs that are usually metabolized by CYP3A4. This simply means that calcium channel blockers, statins, some immunosuppressant drugs (like cyclosporine), and erectile dysfunction drugs such as sildenafil, may have increased blood levels. Please be cautious when taking resveratrol with anticoagulants or anti platelet drugs such as Plavix(r) (Clopidogrel). An increase in adenosine availability is involved in resveratrol cardioprotection in rats. It maybe possible that an increase in adenosine can increase uric acid temporarily. As a caution, it is not recommended long term for people with a genetic predisposition to Gout. We also advise the following: * Keep out of reach and do not give to children. * Do not exceed suggested maximum dose unless your doctor recommends it. * If you have a bad reaction to the supplement discontinue use immediately. * When undergoing treatment for any medical condition, are pregnant (or lactating) please inform your physician when using any nutritional supplements. The information is presented for your consideration, and we are not associated to any people mentioned in this article, or to any mentioned products except for our own RevGenetics Resveratrol products. *We are not associated with CBS, 60 Minutes, Barbara Walters, Oprah, Dr. Oz, YouTube, Google or Dr. Sinclair in any way. The videos are simply shown here for you to consider. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
